"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better" - Maya Angelou

About Men

When considering therapy, you may experience many negative thoughts and feelings. You say to yourself, “I must be weak. I’m such a failure. I don’t need to talk to anyone. How is talking going to help? I can deal with it on my own. Suck it up, and figure it out.” These are normal thoughts men experience before seeking counseling.

Therapy can help you challenge the stereotypical ideas that men should not experience or show feelings. Men should not cry. Men should be strong. The truth is that men have feelings, and need a space to express themselves. There would be less relationship problems if more men explored their feelings and learned to communicate their needs and wants more effectively.

In terms of reluctance to reach out for help, I often tell men that real strength lies in a willingness to take an honest look at yourself, see areas of strength, and acknowledge areas where you want to improve.

In therapy, you will find that our sessions will provide you with a safe space to explore and express the feelings, secrets or obstacles that have been holding you back from living a happy life. Therapy will provide you with a neutral space to help you figure out what you want and help you develop a plan to move forward. I will provide you with the necessary tools to navigate problems and create lasting long-term solutions.

You will never experience personal growth, if you fear taking chances!

Testimonials

  • I’ve been in law enforcement for 17 years and it took me 16 of them to realize that I needed some help dealing with things that are common issues that cops have. After meeting with Lisa for the first time the weight was lifted from my shoulders. I realized it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be. It feels good to talk to someone without judgement and the tools she has given me have been a huge help at work and in my personal life. To those who are skeptical like I was, I say give it a try. It might surprise you how much it helps!

  • Lisa’s counseling has been a great asset over the years. Keeping perspective and balance through trials of life has been much easier with her patient empathy. Her resources and recommendations of material are thoughtful and abundant.

  • For a couple of years, Lisa has been not only a thoughtful ear for some personal challenges, but also provided me a path for individual improvement. I’m a proud man, that never thought of therapy, but after several visits with Lisa and her tremendous expertise and natural calming effect, she has given me the tools to cope. She isn’t afraid to be really honest and tell me what she sees for me. It’s a good balance of hand holding through the rough stuff, and then giving me a hearty push to move through it. She takes the time to connect with her clients. She is supportive but also extremely effective to help you understand how to tackle modern day life challenges.
