About Teens

Your teen is complicated. You want to understand them but at times that seems to be an impossible task. One moment they’re happy and the next they are a mix of emotions or unwilling to even engage in a conversation with you. You’re worried and feel helpless because you just don’t know what to do to help them manage their depression, social anxiety, or whatever other struggles they are facing. You love them so much and you would do anything to get them back on track.

The teen years are difficult. Their main developmental task of this time period is to grow from a child to an independent, self- sufficient adult. During this time, their bodies and brains are undergoing huge physical changes that impact how they see themselves, others, and the world around them. In addition to all of these changes, today’s teens must do all of this under the strong influence of social media. This all contributes to the rise in anxiety, depression, self- harm, and suicide in recent years.

I work with teens and parents to navigate this confusing and stressful time. I have over 22 years of experience in working with pre-teens and adolescents. My goal is to help teens work through painful feelings by learning to understand them better, while also gaining skills to manage them more effectively. Another goal of therapy is to provide parents with tools to help them relate to their teen more effectively and rebuild a healthy relationship as they transition into adulthood.

Together we will discover just who you are, not what the world wants you to be!

Testimonials

  • Lsa Jellison has been my therapist off and on for close to 8 years now. I struggled with a bad relationship in high school, conflicts with my parents, and depression. Her hard work and determination to better my life have helped me tremendously and I am very thankful! I know she’s always there if I need her.

  • I first saw Lisa Jellison as a teenager 21 years ago. I had no idea at the time that I was the first teenager she had ever worked with in private practice. I was having issues with self-esteem, anxiety, and using drugs and alcohol to cope. I cannot tell you how she impacted my life. I saw her for just under a year but she changed my life and set me on a better path. Flash forward to 3 years ago. I was going through a difficult time and remembered how much she helped me. After 18 years I contacted her for help once again. And she remembered me! I am so grateful she’s been a part of my life.
